And Then They Were Puppies is the A-Plot of the 8th episode of the second season of Odd Squad.

Synopsis[]

When every agent turns into a puppy, it's up to Agent Ohlm to save the day.

Olympia's Random Slide[]

This...isn't either of us.

Learning goal[]

  • Spatial sense: using a map to identify landmarks and navigate to a location

Plot[]

The episode begins with a couple explaining to Olympia and Otis evil versions of themselves showed up sitting next to them and they don't know how to get rid of them. Jerry, the man, both opened and closed the portal so now their malevolent twins are there to stay, so they can either join or just try to ignore them. Jerry, being the man with complete backwards morals, decides to join them. The woman, plus Olympia and Otis all shout, "JERRY!" in exasperation.

When Olympia and Otis return to headquarters, they immediately notice something very odd has happened, everyone inside has been replaced with...puppies. Ms. O (who is also one herself) informs the two that the Puppy Master was the doer of the deed, and when she appears, zaps Olympia and Otis into puppies then and there. Her plan is to use a giant laser located in her lair to turn the rest of the world into puppies. She then escapes without a hitch because everyone are just tiny little pups.

So, everyone in headquarters is a puppy, right? Well, there's actually just one agent who isn't, but he's not exactly the bringer of hope. Ohlm. Ms. O calls Ohlm, explaining everything that happened. He has a map to the Puppy Master's lair on his watch, but he very carelessly breaks it. Getting another plan, Ms. O orders Dr. O to go grab a map of town, to hopefully guide Ohlm to the Puppy Master's lair that way. Ohlm points out what he sees around him, so the others can locate him, and direct him on the right path to where he has to go.

Ohlm takes a wrong turn while on his way, and ends up at one of three harbors. Once he points out a landmark, his team of puppy navigators, tells him to go back the way he came, and continue straight towards the Puppy Master's lair. A while later, Ohlm found a pigeon and named him Alan, but also can't go along the path the others told him to because it's under construction. Ms. O offers to find another route, but Otis chews on her badge phone, and disconnects the call. Ohlm then assumes he has to solve the case by himself now.

He asks a walking couple for the map their holding, and figures out an alternate route to the Puppy Master's lair. On his way there, Alan, the pigeon Ohlm named, starts singing to middling success about Ohlm's quest towards the Puppy Master's lair. Ohlm finally arrives at said lair, and defeats the Puppy Master with his most potent weapon: Unpredictability. He manages to destroy the controller to her puppy ray and get the gadget that turned the others into puppies.

Ohlm returns to headquarters with the gadget, and the agents cheer for him. But unfortunately, he experience one final bout of stupidity and turns himself into a puppy, with no way to turn themselves back now. And thus, the episode ends with the other agents/puppies making a calendar with their now mildly adorable appearances.
